Baby Levi | Southern Maryland Children’s Photographer

I have been looking forward to taking this handsome young man’s photos for awhile now and I’m so happy with how they turned out. Three month olds are the perfect age to start capturing some personality! While Levi was pretty stoic the entire session, I got a sweet smile right at the end.

He was not sure what to think at first.

This is one of my favorites because his mama has one of the most amazing smiles and laughs I’ve ever experienced. He’s such a lucky boy!

He’s got some fierce teething going on.

Those eyes…

His daddy built his crib, so I wanted to make sure we got a few photos with it.

All his lovies.

And a smile to end the session!

Goodbye, Donivan | Southern Maryland Photographer

(not sure if you’ve noticed, but I’m switching the titles over to “Southern Maryland” since we are relocating in the next few weeks)

I was able to be part of a very special moment yesterday. When I was asked to photograph the funeral service and burial of a former student, I wasn’t sure how to approach the task. Once things were under way, however, I realized that I had the special privilege of sharing in the family’s grief in a very personal way. This was incredibly profound for me after losing my dad last fall and knowing, first-hand, how deep and dark grief can be. Here are just a few previews; thank you Sarah and Grandma Libby for including me.

Donivan was a super-special super hero: he battled with many medical issues as well as autism and mental retardation. He was obsessed with Power Rangers and was one of the biggest flirts in the school.

It was such a blessing to see so many students and faculty at the service.

Donivan was dressed in his Batman costume; he loved all super hero costumes and wore them to school whenever he could get away with it. He loved Hot Cheetos more than anything.

Costumes were optional, but encouraged.

Purple flowers (the school color) for his love of school.

Fossile Anniversary Preview | Southern Maryland Photographer

This was the most fun I have ever had during a session: there were bubbles, sprinklers, tickle fights, giggles, and picked noses! When Ashley told me what they were looking for, I knew we had to head to the colorful art display at Symphony Park downtown (near the Smith Center). Congrats Dom and Ashley on one year of marriage – here’s to many more:

They are such goofballs – somehow I managed to get a couple serious ones.

Who doesn’t love a gigantic lollipop!?

IMG_9177wm

This might be my favorite from the day. I love how, artistically, it looks like a very serious shot, but it’s totally their personality!

Ode to American Gothic.

American Gothic, part 2.

Sweet kisses.

Another moment of giggles.

Dance break!

I love that the colorful pipes even look good in black and white.

More kisses: this is an anniversary session, after all.
